Professor Dr. Somnuk Tangtermsirikul, Faculty Member at Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat University and Head of the Construction and Maintenance Technology Research Center (CONTEC), revealed that the new cement-free formula incorporates industrial waste as raw materials, effectively lowering CO2 emissions while maintaining the engineering strength of traditional concrete. Its unique color variations, such as brown, offer added aesthetic appeal for architectural designs.

The creation of these cement-free concrete prototypes strives to achieve a carbon footprint that is either extremely low or even negative, by utilizing raw materials that produce minimal CO2 emissions. This innovation marks the first for Thailand, going beyond the conventional grey concrete to introduce a more diverse and visually attractive material," Dr. Somnuk explained.
